It's FAR more than that. I am aprofessional historian, and while I am no expert in Chinese affairs, I am stillpretty well versed in her history for a non specialist, and I have beeninvolved in a number of Documentaries.
In ANY historical documentary attention todetails and accuracy is a MUST, and from personal experience, I find it hard totake ANY documentary seriously when the narrator mispronounces everything fromthe start. It's true that she is only a narrator, but they CHOSE to have hernarrate this. If it were me, I would NEVER have hired her.
It looks like they should've had a ClimateChange Conference thousands of years ago!
Thank you for posting this! I'm thirdgeneration Chinese American, but I have little-to-no resources to learn aboutChinese history. There is a sort of language barrier I struggle with (I don'tspeak Mandarin/Cantonese very well). This is sort of my only way ofunderstanding it.
chefaopt 👍👍👍 true. Everyone seems to be an expert in the net. 😂😂😂
if a non English speaker starts narrating avideo about European history, and pronounces every frigging Names and Placeswrong, you'd cringe too. Its a fact, that many non Asians speaker put very little effort into learning andunderstanding East Asian cultures.
I am always fascinated by the rich and mostpowerful history and culture of china...
Those floods weren't a myth but an actualnatural disaster occurred, well if writing history back then was inventedbefore these catastrophes there is a hard proof.
Also these floods aren't connected to theBible, and also that flood in the Bible only occured in that region in MiddleEast
It could be that for ancient river valleycivilizations the frequency of floods created a common theme of the great floodmyth. It's Kind of a universal problem that anyone living by a river dealswith.
King Yu worshipped the God of the Bible
@Anythingnew 2 LOL good one. He would have gotten aboard wayearly -- before the bible or even torah was written, if I'm not mistaken.
Probably not a myth but then not a worldflood either.
If you are a neolithic farmer and yourvalley floods it is monumental but it is local.
A hundred miles away on higher ground lifegoes on unmolested.
@Harm10412 Correct. There are many peoplewho believed in God before Noah and during Abraham's day. Those people werejust not written about, they are the silent Christians, just like we are.
@Anythingnew 2 uhm, it would rather seemthat some Christians are desperately shoehorning them into their religion. Asother religions also like to view the world exclusively through theirmythology.
TheBrabon1 China's major rivers floodinghas happened every year for thousands of years, Chinese are used to it and it'spart of Chinese mythology at this point. Combating and preventing the damageand loss of life due to flooding of yellow river has been Chineseleaders/peoples goal since forever. Only now with modern dams and stuff has itbeen completely stopped, but even then earthquakes and flooding still happens, just not due to old reasons like river overflowing/bursting but new ones. Buteven then, no one dies and only property damage, so it's still a success. Mainthing is stopping loss of life, since you can never fully stop land damage fromflooding if you live next to river(or flood prone low lying area etc) or inheavy rain/storms area..
Proud to be Chinese descendant.:)
@Korawit Saengchawalit me too :)
@Janice Kong We are the son of the dragon.
Jia Yi Lim
+Shui Shu Biao agreed. Well, as much as I'mproud of being Chinese, I'm quite disheartened at the fact that women havealmost always been discriminated in the typical Chinese society (perhapshistorically-speaking). Yeah, daughters!
That's not Christian Bible. Ancient Chinesefollowed spiritual path.
年夜禹治水 (Yu The Great controls theflood/waters)
